The B.Well Foundation is excited to host our 5th annual Long Shots Basketball Tournament and Community Celebration on October 26, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Evelyn K. Davis Park.
Every year, we award each of the five Des Moines high school basketball programs with a $1,000 donation. With budgets consistently getting cut we understand that small contributions to the programs can go along way. The money is used to offset expenses during the basketball season. This year marks $25,000 that’s been given back through the event.
At the heart of LongShots lies a commitment to inclusivity and community engagement. Without the burden of financial obligation, Long Shots provides an equal playing field for all – bringing together students of all backgrounds, abilities, and playing levels.
Beyond the 3×3 basketball tournament, the free event brings the entire community together for a day filled with local creatives through interactive art activities, food, music and more. We curate a “Half-Time Spotlight” segment, featuring a range of activities, including a DMPS elementary basketball scrimmage, a DMPS Unified Special Olympics scrimmage, and breakdancing performances by DMPS students from our Creative Coaches programming.
