Two McCombs Students Recognized by the Optimist Club of Des Moines

Hailey Goldsmith Odin Nelson

Congratulations to Hailey Goldsmith and Odin Nelson who are being recognized by the Optimist Club of Des Moines for their outstanding character and contributions to McCombs.  They will be recognized in the club’s annual yearbook!

Odin Nelson

We nominate Odin Nelson for the Optimist Youth Appreciation Program.  Odin is generous with his time, talent, and enthusiasm, and makes McCombs Middle School a better place.  Odin is one of the leaders on our Student Council.  As treasurer he is dependable, well-spoken, and works hard to attempt to represent all demographics of our student body.  He attended a youth leadership conference and brought back many ideas to enhance our program.  Odin is curious and well mannered.  He brings infectious enthusiasm to the clubs and classes he is in, setting the standard for the general attitude of the room.  He also works hard behind the scenes to enhance his own learning.  Odin is an excellent example of the type of scholar whose time, talent, and enthusiasm improves our school and community.

Hailey Goldsmith

We nominate Hailey Goldsmith for the Optimist Youth Appreciation Program.  Hailey is an example of the type of scholar who makes our school and community better by being a part of it.  Hailey is kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and reflective.  She brings enthusiasm and determination to all of the classes she joins.  Hailey is always upbeat, perseveres even in difficult times or with challenging work, and always is positive and supportive of others.  She holds herself to a standard that all scholars should.  Hailey is an excellent personification of optimism.
