McCombs’ Jake Wager: Social Studies Teacher of the Year

Jake Wager of McCombs Middle School was selected

Jake Wager of McCombs Middle School was selected by the Iowa Council for the Social Studies as the 2016 Middle School Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations to yet another award-winning DMPS teacher, McCombs Middle School’s Jake Wager!

When last we saw Wager at work he was coordinating the mock caucus at McCombs in January when students held their own version of Iowa’s first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses a couple of weeks before the real thing.

Since then Wager was nominated by his principal, Nancy Croy, for the Middle School Teacher of the Year award that’s presented annually by the Iowa Council for the Social Studies. Recently he was notified that he is this year’s winner and is now eligible for consideration as the National Council for the Social Studies Outstanding Teacher of the Year. He also receives a one-year paid membership to both ICSS and NCSS.

Wager will officially receive his award at the ICSS annual conference in October.
